When you slow down the speed by a factor of 10 suddenly every movement becomes so gracious and elegant. Weightlessness is often depicted in films in slow motion giving the visual impression of floating, it actually isn’t slow when you watch astronauts at work while spinning around our home base. Time and our perception of speed remain the most perplexing entities all of our experiences are based upon. We do have an approximate notion of the time it took our universe to get to this point but we can only try to get a grasp of the dimension by comparing it to for example 1 year of our life. We realize that we cannot compare a year or even the length of our life or the time homo sapiens exists with the billion of years that the planet we call our home and we stand on every second has already endured.

    Krishnamurti once said:

“Man, in order to escape his conflicts, has invented many forms of meditation. These have been based on desire, will, and the urge for achievement, and imply conflict and a struggle to arrive. This conscious, deliberate striving is always within the limits of a conditioned mind, and in this there is no freedom. All effort to meditate is the denial of meditation. Meditation is the ending of thought. It is only then that there is a different dimension which is beyond time.”

Personally I think that in less than 300 years people will smile and wonder when they look back at our time. They will see two schools of thought, people with blind faith in self generated projections and people with faith and hope in the power of self-discovery. Both will have been necessary for the advancement of man kind and its discoveries, we definitely need discussion and controversy to move ahead. But they will smile at the length of time it took us to overcome our heavy burdens of convention and beliefs due to millenia of successful survival against all odds.

In my honest opinion, I think there have been people who have smiled and wondered at the rest of it, past and present, during all times of evolution. We have then called these people “Jesus” and “Buddha” and what have you and considered them higher, apart, separate, etc. The difference now is, there is a completely different evolution possible, immenent and necessary when discovering that that “self” we are discovering is bigger, more amazing and exciting than we could possibly have thought possible. Out of that, certainly, new conventions may form, but on a very different scale. People will puzzle at how anyone could think of asking “What can my country do for me (or my employer, my husband, etc.) when “What can I do for my country/employer/husband?” is accepted as being, equaling and meaning “What can I do for my-SELF?”
